Have it your way
I’ll shed my imprudent dreams of infancy
 worthless delusions of invention
Exchange them for maturities hollow hopes
 post-adolescent mundane trivialities
In youth, you gorged my ego with nonsense,
absurd ambitions, untenable goals
Made me think success was achievable, attainable,
essential to gaining your approval
Have it your way
I’ll whore myself out for your corporate desires,
your insatiable lust for control
Trade the fleeting moments of my precious life,
for eight dollars fifty-cents an hour
So you can call me an asset to societies cause,
responsible, dependable, manageable
Then you will respect me, when I’m working 9 to 5,
Slaving toward my peers acceptance
Have it your way
The nubile, sensuous features of pubescence fades,
I’ve lost your envious admiration
No longer can I elude the consequences of time,
womanhood beckons, motherhood calls
Only in childhood do you allow us the luxury of desire,
now I must cower to your limitations
Imagination is to be left behind, buried in it’s grave,
until senility resurrects it, too late to matter

(Note: Pay Attention! This was contributed by Elisha Kayne. Elisha has one book of short stories published and is in-process of getting her first novel published. Ya'll thought all you'd get to read was my crap, now we have people who can actually write on the blog. Tell yer friends--the Loon)
Salons of enlightenment left cold
Voltaire and Montesquieu walk the empty halls
Howling into the night to deaf ears, closed minds
Dens of Harlem, Height-Ashbury abandoned
Windows of Universal truths
shut out
boarded up
broken
Lasting vestiges of the un-won revolution
Tattered soldiers licking wounds
Lost to whiskey dreams
heroin comas
mescaline prisons
Sitting on the streets of despair naked and raving mad
Run to your desert hiding places
Cloister in earth ship domes
Isolate yourselves from the world you once loved and failed to save
Where are the philosophers of our generation?
Lost to digital dreams
sound bite comas
methamphetamine prisons
To us is given no prophecy
high priest visionaries
shaman who lead us to God
We listen in our graves for Gabriel to sound his horn
There is no resurrection
There is no reformation
Forever we lie imprisoned in the tower
looking to the past
hiding from the future
When will the star emerge to guide us through the Void
will we heal
will we resist
will we grow
Or have we given up, forced into techno delusions
Fated to slip deservingly
willingly
Into the Dark

Overview

  • : poetry-doggeral-et-al's name
  • : A mix of poetry, doggeral (intentionally mispelled (sic) as it IS doggerel), stories, familial stuff, and disjointed thoughts, posted to hopefully elicit dailogue(s), arguments, and/or a reader's ideas, poetry, etc. It is not polished, not especially literate, certainly not universal--sorry, it is just me.

Another newby: happybluetoes. She writes glimpses, short stories, and poetry. Welcome her with a comment.

Neominini has his first contribution on the blog. If you like his songs please do two things: enter a comment at the end of the article, and go to links down on right side of Home Page and go to his web-site, where you can listen to his music. Enjoy.

Elisha Kayne--a published author has kindly contributed to the blog. Check her out.
